Our signature Charsi Tikka Goat Karahi is slow-cooked bone-in goat simmered in a rich, tomato-forward gravy with minimal but bold Pashtun spices, prepared in the traditional wok-style karahi pan over high heat. It's the dish Shinwari Karahi is named for — tender, meaty, and made for sharing.
Shinwari-style karahi originates with the Shinwari tribe of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region, where meat is cooked in a wok-like karahi pan over high heat with just tomatoes, ginger, garlic, and a handful of spices — letting the quality of the meat shine through. At Shinwari Karahi, we bring that same tradition to Castleridge, slow-cooking bone-in goat until it's fall-off-the-bone tender in a rich, glossy gravy.
Every karahi is prepared fresh to order and served sizzling hot in the traditional karahi pan, garnished with fresh ginger, green chilies, and cilantro. It's a family-size portion meant for sharing at the table with fresh Afghani naan.
Castleridge Local
"One of the best Shinwari and Pakistani spots in northeast Calgary. The goat karahi is tender, the spices are authentic without being overwhelming, and the portions are large enough for the whole family. Staff were accommodating with our requests and prices were fair for the amount of food."
